is the true story of a craftsman chocolate maker, whose legendary name has become a symbol of luxury and prestige the world over.
Praliné, a mixture of finely grounded almonds or hazelnuts and caramelized sugar, was first invented in Belgium. In 1926, Pierre Draps Senior created his first praliné chocolates, or pralines, in the small atelier of his Brussels home. Soon, the entire family including the four children helped their parents produce, finish, package and deliver their elegant chocolates, which were sold in the smartest department stores in Brussels.
The family choose the evocative name “Godiva” being inspired by the passion, boldness and generosity of Lady Godiva from the old English legend.
After their parents passed away, the children Pierre, Joseph, Francois and Yvonne though still young, rose to the challenge and kept the family business
When Lady Godiva, wife of Lord Leofric, protested against the taxation of his subjects a deal was struck: fair Lady Godiva would ride through the streets of Coventry, “clad in nought” but her long tresses, and if the population remained in shuttered buildings, their tax burden would be lifted. The following morning she made her famous ride, the citizens graciously stayed inside and

Leofric kept his word and reduced the taxes.
Lady Godiva won the hearts of many and her legend has lived on through the centuries. Nowhere is her passion, purity, sensuality, style and boldness more symbolised than in Godiva chocolates, which in turn are sure to win the hearts of those who taste them.
Godiva sells trufflescoffeecocoa, biscuits, dipped fruits and sweets, chocolate liqueur, shakes, wedding and party favors and other items arranged in gift baskets. Godiva's signature package is the Gold Ballotin (French for "small, cardboard box of chocolates"). Godiva also produces seasonal and limited-edition chocolates with special packaging for major holidays. Godiva also has license agreements for the production of ice cream, cheesecake, coffee pods and liqueur that comes in several chocolate-related flavors.

Over 75 years ago, Godiva began as a small praline-making business run by the Draps family out of their home in Brussels, Belgium today Godiva  operate more than 450 shops worldwide
